About BMI

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure that uses height and weight to work out if weight is healthy. The BMI calculation divides an adult's weight in kilograms by their height in metres squared.

BMI Formula:
BMI = weight (kg) / height (m)²
BMI Categories:
  • Underweight BMI less than 18.5
  • Normal BMI 18.5-24.9
  • Overweight BMI 25-29.9
  • Obese BMI 30 or greater
